Taco Shack - Stuart

Today I was in Stuart, Florida and had a few minutes to kill so I thought I would get a bite to eat. It was too late for lunch and too early for dinner so I asked for a suggestion from a local who quickly chirped, "the Taco Shack - right across the street, and they have tacos to die for!"

It sounded good enough for me so we took the thirty yard trek across the street and entered the Taco Shack. Music was playing and we witnessed Julie, the Taco Queen, bouncing around the half dozen or so tables. Later we found out that Julie, the proprietor, was in the midst of a new taco creation.

There is nothing that I like more than enthusiasm and Julie is enthusiasm on steroids! You can tell that she loves what she does and she goes out of her way to make sure that everything is done right!

My "tween" snack was a cup of  "the 'already famous' chicken tortilla soup" which came with a couple of handfuls of the house made corn tortilla chips. The soup was a generous 12 ounces, and
full of white meat chicken and tons of taste. The accompanied chips were warm and crispy; very different and much better than what you find at the local grocery store.

Another of Julie's creations is the "Fresh Catch Mahi" taco which was thoroughly enjoyed by my companion. We also tried the pico de gallo (freshest I've ever had!) and the guacamole (definitely the real homemade deal.)

Taco Shack compliments their menu with a complete and quite eclectic and unique assortment of beverages including fountain drinks, bottles, cans, beer, wine, and coconut water (shake well and pour over ice, Julie said, "and it's fabulous")

Don't think that this is a fast food joint, because it's not. Each taco is made fresh to your order and substitutions don't upset them. You can eat in, eat out on the patio, or take it to go. If you are in a rush, call ahead and your order will be waiting for you when you get there.
