Jack's Pizzeria and Italian Restaurant

Tonight I had a really unique experience. Michelle and I met Ellie, Aunt Harriet, Lynn, Gladys, Miriam and Chris. Aunt Harriet set up the reservations for 5:30 at Jacks Pizzeria on the SW corner of Military Trail and Atlantic Avenue in Delray Beach.

Located next to a steak sub joint in a strip center that is anchored by Bed, Bath and Beyond, Jack's is very low key. I was surprised to see both a Rolls and a Bentley in the parking lot. I have tasted the pizza from Jack's in the past, via delivery, and found it to be quite tasty. I was really looking forward to trying their Italian dishes.

We all arrived at almost exactly 5:30 and after a friendly greeting we were immediately seated. The staff was very accomodating and made enough room for us to sit comfortably. George, our wait-person (you don't have to call me waiter - my name's George) took drink orders and brought some delicious plain and garlic rolls while we looked over the menu.

Since we were seated before six we were entitled to partake of the "early bird" special which contained most of the "normal" Italian fare dinners from $13.95. The dishes come with either soup or salad, entree, drink, and a cannoli for dessert. I opted for the "Greek" salad while Michelle chose the pasta fagioli.

My salad was very good. Fresh greens, a few olives, grape tomatoes, pepperoncini, feta cheese and a Greek style vinigarette dressing on the side. Michelle loved the soup and said she wished it was a bowl instead of just a cup.

Ellie and Harriet split the sausage and peppers and it was plenty for the two of them. I had veal parmigiana. Michelle ordered shrimp scampi over linguini and Lynn picked the chicken parm. I didn't hear any complaints about the food and I think we all enjoyed every dish we had. The garlic rolls were plentiful and George kept our drink glasses full without a hitch. At the end of the meal he delivered each of us a cannoli.

Jack's has better than average Italian food and excellent service. They are well organized and the octogenarians flow in and out easily and fairly quickly. There was no wait when we arrived, but there were several parties waiting when we left.
