The Hog Pompano Beach

We were getting ready for lunch one day last week and Dave said, "I heard there's a new barbecue place that opened up in Pompano called 'The Hog' and maybe we should check it out." It sounded good to Dale and I so we drove over and met Dave outside.



I guess you would call the decor 'rustic with a hint of galvanized steel.' It just screams barbecue and makes the place feel real homey. You walk in past a large billboard that serves as the menu. Make up your mind then step up to the counter and place your order. Take a seat and the food is brought to you!





Dave ordered the pork plate with sides of french fries and collard greens. Dale and I jumped for the "Hog Trough Sampler," a serving of smoked turkey, a sausage link, pork and brisket. Each came with a small side of cole slaw and we split a side of fries. Our drinks were served along with three delicious jalapeno cornbread muffins.


After a few minutes the barbecue appeared. And a few minutes later it disappeared-right into our mouths.

We all tried some of Dave's collard greens and they were superb! The bbq beef and pork were great as was the turkey and I really enjoyed the sausage link. They had three sauces to chose from and I tried them all. The sweet and spicy went great with the turkey and the bold was good with the beef. But my favorite was the mustard based.


We really liked the food and we'll definitely be coming back for more. The service was quick and friendly and Jen, one of the owners, told me that they have a Monday Special on ribs. You mentioned visiting The Hog last week, and that The Hog has a special on Mondays. Yet, you post your review at 10:57 p.m. Monday night.
