American Roadhouse

Here's another good place that I discovered thru the GottaHalfIt social group buying website. The offer was to pay $15.00 for $35.00 worth of food and drinks at American Roadhouse in Pompano. It is in the same location where the now defunct Hop's was near the SW corner of Sample and Federal.
It was a Saturday night and Michelle and I both had a craving for steak so I thought this would be a great time to tryout this new version of Roadhouse Grill. I printed the coupon and off we went.

Save on all the things you love to do!

The sign on the building said "David Toole's Original Roadhouse Grill," but when asked I was told that David Toole doesn't own it anymore and it was now called "American Roadhouse." We had a little trouble finding the entrance since most of the parking area faces Federal Highway yet the front door is on the side.

Once inside we were promptly greeted and seated. We passed a barrel full of peanuts and walked over several peanut shells scattered around the floor and a small bucket of peanuts adorned our table.

Gabriel, our server, arrived quickly and took our drink orders and told us about the specials. He dropped off a basket of yeast rolls which are addictively delicious! Michelle ordered one of the specials: pieces of teriyaki filet mignon and grilled shrimp over rice with a sweet potato and sauteed mushrooms. I chose the "Cowboy" ribeye, (bone in) done Pittsburgh medium, a lettuce wedge with bacon and tomatoes, a loaded baked potato and more sauteed mushrooms.

We both agreed that the food was cooked correctly, very tasty, and an excellent value for the money. I would say the restaurant is comparable to Longhorn and it would be unfair to rate it against J.Alexanders, Houstons, or J.Marks where the same dinner would cost twice the price.

Gabriel checked on us periodically and kept our drinks filled. The only disappointment came at the end of the meal. I yearned for a nice dessert to compliment the dinner and was informed that the only thing available was ice cream or apple cobbler with ice cream. What a let down!

We enjoyed our dinner but I am going to hold off giving a rating until I return to use the other GottaHalfIt coupon and can honestly judge their consistency. Check out http://www.WhitePlateSpecial.com/ for the update.
