Butterfields Southern Cafe

If you are ever in the mood for a special breakfast treat take a ride over to Butterfields Southern Cafe in West Palm Beach. They serve breakfast all day and it's the "loosen your belt" type. After our two day cruise on the Bahamas Celebration a little while ago we stopped in to Butterfields for breakfast. I had been there once before to sample their breakfast and was really looking forward to this opportunity to return.

We arrived late on a weekday morning and there were only a few tables occupied. Coffee was served immediately and we placed our order. Steve and I both ordered the "Rocking Chair" breakfast; Michelle and Ilona split an order of cinnamon French toast.

My breakfast started with a giant homemade biscuit smothered with the best sausage gravy I have had in a long time.  It was followed with a pair of perfectly fried eggs over medium, home fries and a large smoked sausage cut lengthwise and grilled. Rye toast with butter and jelly on the side.

Coffee was served all around and the chat around the table was interrupted with "mmmmmmm" sounds coming from our mouths. The service was friendly and efficient even though our waitress confessed to only being on the job for a few days.

I have mixed feelings for this place: on one hand I wish it was closer so I could eat there more often. On the other hand I'm glad it's not because I would be eating there too much!

The food was excellent and the service top notch. Friendly atmosphere, comfortable seating and reasonable prices. Who could ask for more?

Check them out for a "special" breakfast and your first time will bring you back over and over again. When you're there tell them you read about it at http://www.whiteplatespecial.com/
